The Philadelphia Eagles have shocked a lot of observers by cutting the player they obtained from the Cleveland Browns for Sheldon Brown and Chris Gocong.
Linebacker Alex Hall came from Cleveland along with two lower-round draft picks for Brown and Gocong.
The Eagles had hoped Hall could play the strongside linebacker position and challenge Moise Fokou to start. Hall had also been expected to play some at defensive end.
Now, Hall won’t have a chance to make the Eagles after being cut on Wednesday.
Hall. 25, had been a project in Cleveland and also played on special teams. But the Eagles touted Hall as a good fit for their defensive system.
Fokou is now seen as a lock to start and the Eagles have several draft picks who can play at linebacker.
Ironically, Hall was cut on the day he was expected to report to training camp at Lehigh. He had been expected to report at the dorms at 5 p.m.
