The newly formed Lingerie Football League will have a Philadelphia franchise, the Passion, officials announced over the weekend.
The team will practice in Downingtown and play its home games at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton late this year.
The Passion will hold public tryouts next Wednesday at 1426 Marshallton-Thorndale Road in Downington.
"Philadelphia and New Jersey sports fans embody the passion and support leagues seek when considering going into markets," said Mitchell Mortaza, the league's founder in a statement.
The league features full tackle games with seven women on each side of the line of scrimmage.
However, unlike the NFL, the LFL athletes wear helmets, halters and panties, instead of traditional football gear.
MyFoxPhilly contacted the league, which said that the compensation for athletes will be based on a percentage of attendance, and which team wins each game.
It also says that women who come to the open try out on May 13 in Downingtown "must be between the ages of 18 - 28, athletic, confident and beautiful."
The league also said it is updating its Web site at
www.LFLUS.com to include information about the Passion, including
ticket sales and merchandise.
