Ultimate Fighting Comes To Philly

The UFC will finally make its debut in a city that loves contact, as the Wachovia Center will host the next big event here.

UFC 101 will bring the top stars in this red-hot sport to Philadelphia’s Wachovia Center on August 8.

But tickets go on sale May 21 online at www.UFC.com.

If tickets remain, they will go on sale on Saturday, May 23 at 10 a.m. via ComcastTIX.com, UFC.com, by phone at 1-800-298-4200, the Wachovia Center Box Office, or select ACME markets.

The event features BJ Penn defending his UFC lightweight crown against number one contender Kenny Florian. Anderson Silva will be in the 205-pound weight class to take on former light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin.

The UFC is the largest mixed martial arts promotion in the world.

It brought in a reported $300 million in revenue last year as one of the profitable businesses on cable pay-per-view.
