ANAHEIM, California - The Texas Rangers moved back into a tie with Los Angeles for leadership of the American League West division with an 8-5 win over the Angels on Tuesday.

Andruw Jones hit a three-run homer to key Texas' decisive six-run fifth inning.

The homer, a score on a wild pitch, and a two-run single all came with two outs in the fifth as the Rangers overhauled Los Angeles' 3-0 lead.

Los Angeles pitcher John Lackey gave up six runs in 4 2-3 innings.
Yankees 10, Twins 2

In Minneapolis, pitcher C.C. Sabathia allowed just one run in seven innings, steering New York past Minnesota.

The bottom third of the Yankees batting order combined for seven hits and six RBIs.

Twins pitcher Scott Baker was 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in his only two previous starts against the Yankees, but gave up five runs in three innings, his shortest outing of the season.

Sabathia held Minnesota All-Stars Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau hitless in six combined at-bats.
Rays 3, Blue Jays 1, 11 innings

In St. Petersburg, Florida, Pat Burrell hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning to give Tampa Bay victory over Toronto.

The AL champions stopped a four-game losing streak that included three losses to rookie pitchers. They still struggled at the plate, managing just two hits in six innings against the Blue Jays debutant pitcher Marc Rzepczynski.

Burrell, mired in a 4-for-34 slump, hit only his fourth homer of the season.
Red Sox 5, Athletics 2

In Boston, Josh Beckett became Boston's second pitcher to reach 10 wins this season, helping the Red Sox overcome Oakland.

Beckett matched the win total of Tim Wakefield and remained unbeaten at home this season with five wins in eight starts.

Boston's Jason Bay, the top vote-getter among AL outfielders for next Tuesday's All-Star game, hit a solo shot in the second inning for his 20th homer of the season but first in 49 at-bats.
Tigers 8, Royals 5

In Detroit, pitcher Justin Verlander struck out 11 to run his AL-best strikeout total to 141, as Detroit downed Kansas City.

That strikeout total is the most by a Detroit pitcher before the All-Star break in 37 years. He gave up seven hits over six innings.

Marcus Thames hit a three-run homer for the AL Central-leading Tigers.
Orioles 12, Mariners 4

In Seattle, Luke Scott had three hits and a career-high seven RBIs to power Baltimore over Seattle .

Scott had a two-run single in the first, a two-run triple in a four-run sixth and a three-run homer in a six-run seventh. His previous high for RBIs was five.
White Sox 10, Indians 6

In Chicago, Paul Konerko hit a career-high three home runs, including a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning, as Chicago beat Cleveland.

Konerko, who drove in a career-high seven runs, became the 12th player in White Sox history to hit three homers in a game and the first for six years.
