WYNNEWOOD, Pa. - Longtime Phillies broadcaster Andy Musser has died aged 74, his family announced Monday.
Musser died Sunday at his home in Wynnewood, Pa. No cause of death was given.
"Andy was a dear friend to many, an absolute gentleman, and a true professional. I had the pleasure of working with him for 26 years, during which time he made a significant contribution to our club," Phillies president David Montgomery said in a statement.
"Additionally, along with thousands of Philadelphia sports fans, I admired his versatility in announcing not only Phillies games but also his work with the Eagles, Sixers and Villanova Basketball.
"We will all miss our dear friend."
Musser was in the booth for Phillies games from 1976 to 2001, broadcasting two World Series.
He called two Super Bowls and two Masters championships, and was also a broadcaster for the 76ers team that included Wilt Chamberlain and won the NBA championship in 1967, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Musser is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eun Joo, his son, Allan, and daughter, Luanne.
