PHILADELPHIA - It's the day Phillies fans have been waiting for: Single-game tickets went on sale Thursday morning.
Some people had been lined up outside the ballpark since Wednesday night for their chance to see the 2012 Phillies.
Shortly before 7 a.m., team officials gave fans wristband to hold their place in line and let them go inside the Majestic Clubhouse to warm up. The store also has a 15-percent discount for the day.
Single-game tickets started selling online, on the phone and at the ballpark at 8:30 a.m.
John Weber, the Phillies' vice president of ticket sales and operations, said they provide all three channels in order to provide something for everybody.
"You can go online and go on the phones," Weber said. "It will be a little crowded, obviously, this morning, a little slow at certain points with so many people trying to get tickets, but hopefully with patience you'll be able to get through and get the tickets you're looking for."
The team has already sold 3 million tickets to date, which Weber said "is an unbelievable number."
So, about 500,000 or 600,000 tickets are left to be sold. Last year, the team sold a grand total of 3.68 million tickets.
"We're hoping to do those same sort of numbers with the fan support that we've received so far here this year and ever since we moved into Citizens Bank Park," Weber said.
FOX 29's Karen Hepp had live reports starting at 7 a.m. from outside the ballpark.
