Flyers Fans Boo Rivals In 'Hockey Fights Cancer' Ad

PHILADELPHIA - Did we have another snowballs-at-Santa situation in Philadelphia? Some think so.

During Wednesday night's Flyers game against the Vancouver Canucks, the Flyers played a "hockey fights cancer commercial" inside the Wells Fargo Center.

The commercial features players from rival teams.

All of the rivals were booed by a noticeable group of fans despite being on screen to ask for support in the fight against cancer.

Those watching the game noticed the boos - and twitter lit up! Check out some of the tweets:

"@jessespector" is a hockey writer. He tweeted: "Booing an anti-cancer video should replace booing Santa Claus as the go-to explanation of Philadelphia fans."

Another tweeter, @T_TREV47, observed, "you know ur in Philly when fans boo a hockey fights cancer video because crosbys in it #Flyers"

On "Good Day" Thursday morning, we took a look at the commercial and discussed the incident.

Meanwhile, Wednesday night was the home opener for the Flyers and, even with Mike Richards and Jeff Carter gone, maybe the offense won't be a problem.

The Flyers had just enough scoring to hold off Vancouver.

The power play was working early. Claude Giroux started it all by giving the team a 1-0 lead on his was to a three-point night.

Their second goal also came on the power play, when Chris Pronger's blast from the point went past the glove of Roberto Luongo.

The Flyers blew a 4-2 lead but then took the lead for good when Andrej Meszaros scored in the third period, winning 5-4.
