Domonic Brown Sparks Phillies In Debut

PHILADELPHIA - Phillies phenom Domonic Brown matched the hype in his major league debut, leading Philadelphia to a 7-1 win over Arizona.

Brown went two for three, with two RBIs and two runs scored, and combined with Jayson Werth and Carlos Ruiz to rattle the Diamondbacks.

The threesome combined for 8 hits and 5 RBIs on the night.

Roy Halladay tossed another complete game for the Phillies and lost a shutout with two outs in the ninth inning.

But the star of the night was Brown, who electrified another sellout crowd with a long double in the second inning.

Brown just missed a home run in his first at bat and glided effortlessly into second base.

The Phillies have now won seven games in a row, and the addition of Brown will add more power and speed to an already hot offense.

Victorino suffered his injury last night while diving back into first base during a pick-off attempt in a game against the Diamondbacks at Citizen's Bank Park. He aggravated the injury while playing in the outfield.

Brown, 22, was hitting a combined .327 with 46 extra base hits including 20 home runs and 68 RBIs over 93 games for double-A Reading and Lehigh Valley.
