Nine people are taken to the hospital after a school bus crashes in New Castle and ends up on its side and over a guardrail.

According to police, all of the injuries are reported to be minor.

Police said the bus was heading to Gunning Bedford Middle School and traveling south on Route 9 at 7:19 a.m. when a pickup truck on Hamburg Road pulled out into the path of the bus. The two collided, and the bus traveled off of the roadway, where it came to a stop.

All of the injured – eight children and the driver – went to Christiana Hospital. Police said parents and school officials responded immediately to the scene.
