Monday marks the 40th anniversary of man landing on the moon.
The Franklin Institute's Derrick Pitts told "Good Day," the moon mission was the most exciting thing anyone every witnessed in space history. He said "everyone worldwide loved it."
Pitts said future space missions to Mars are a real possibility. He said there will be some "technical hurdles," but if NASA puts its mind to it, it can be done.
Pitts also discussed the planned 2010 retirement of the shuttle fleet. He said it is "time to move onto new space craft." He called the shuttle "the most complicated piece of equipment on earth."
