Microdermabrasion is one of the most requested procedures for dermatologists.
Dr. Susan Taylor demonstrated how the procedure is performed on "Good Day." Dr. Taylor explained microdermabrasion removes the dead layer of skin. The procedure is a series of four to six treatments once a month. The machine uses a suction device to pull the skin. A diamond tip removes the dead skin. Dr. Taylor says microdermabrasion is good for sensitive skin. And it doesn't hurt.
Chemical peels are another option. The chemical removes the top layer of skin. Dr. Taylor says it can tingle but is not painful. Patients need a chemical peel four to six times to maintain "radiant skin." It's important to wear sunscreen after a chemical peel. Prices range from $75 to $100 per treatment.
