When training for a race or bike ride a lot of people focus on their legs and building endurance. But it is also important to keep the abs and arms strong.
Personal trainer Melissa Gorelitz demonstrated four easy exercises to strengthen arms and stomach muscles. Gorelitz said these exercises are especially good for women.
The first is the plank push-up. You can begin with your knees on the mat and work toward moving to knees off the ground. Gorelitz recommends doing six to twelve of these in three repetitions.
The double tricep extension will also strengthen the arms. This involves holding a weight at an angle over your head.
The oblique side plank can be tough but very beneficial.
And the scissor hold will beef-up those lower abs.
