PHILADELPHIA - H. Beatty Chadwick served one of the longest contempt sentences in U.S. history before his release Friday.
His ex-wife claimed that Chadwick was hiding $2.5-million dollars that she was entitled to. But during his 14 years in prison, Chadwick adamantly died he had the money.
Chadwick and his attorney Mike Malloy discussed the case on "Good Day Philadelphia."
Chadwick claims the money was lost in an investment that "went sour." Malloy was able to free his client after convincing the judge that Chadwick had no control or access to the money.
Malloy also argued that the long prison term wasn't serving its purpose but was purely a punishment.
Chadwick is thrilled to be out of prison. He said now that he is out, "It's like I have to start my life all over again."
But his wife's attorney has vowed to continue the fight to find Chadwick's money.
