It's a competitive job market out there, so it's important to be methodical if you're looking for employment.
Joe Murray is with First Financial Group.
He explained on "Good Day," if you're job hunting it's important that be your number one activity. "You have to make getting a job your job." Murray says you need to make yourself visible or "you'll drop off the radar."
Murray says it's also important to not get too used to living on your unemployment benefits. While collecting unemployment is necessary, it can also "start to begin to become a disincentive."
Murray also explained don't be too dependent on your resume. "Companies hire people not resumes." If you are lucky enough to get an interview it's important to remember the bottom line for companies is revenue. "Show them you'll become a valuable asset and will help drive revenue."
And finally don't make negative comments to a potential employer about past job experiences.
