Peace Meeting Planned For H.S. Students

St. Rep. Kenyatta Johnson Plans Meeting For H.S.

The first "Peace Not Guns" townhall meeting is planned for Thursday at South Philadelphia High School.

State Representative Kenyatta Johnson is sponsoring the event. Johnson explained on "Good Day" community leaders from the Asian and African American communities are working with the school district to resolve the issues between students. On Thursday at 4pm students are invited to the forum on youth issues. Panelists include: actor Hosea Chanchez, Columbia University's Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, and DA Elect Seth Williams.

State Rep. Johnston explained the number one killer of African American youth is homicide. "Gun violence is a major issue in the city of Philadelphia." Johnson's goal is to significantly reduce the youth murder rate in the city. He hopes the Thursday meeting will be a good start.
