There has been a change in command at the Philadelphia Housing Authority.
Michael Kelly is currently the General Manager of the New York City Housing Authority, the largest in the nation. He will be “on loan” to the PHA fro 6 – 12 months.
Kelly replaces the embattled Carl Greene. Greene was fired earlier this year after a series of sexual harassment lawsuits were settled – to the tune of nearly $1 million.
Greene left behind a major HUD and FBI investigation into alleged improprieties. A grand jury is also looking into missing building materials (also in the millions of dollars). Greene’s involvement in several non-profit agencies are also being looked.
PHA Board chairman John Street says that Michael Kelly is the right man for the job.
Kelly begins his stint on December 6th. He will be paid $292,000 is he stays the entire year. this is his salary in New York. He will also receive living expenses and a food allowance.
