Don Onorato: PA Governor's Race

In six months voters in Pennsylvania will pick their next Governor. The candidates are wasting no time spreading their messages.

Dan Onorato is the Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania Governor. He is challenging Attorney General Tom Corbett. The latest polls have Onorato trailing Corbett by seven points.

Onorato admits "I do look at the polls." He told "Good Day," he is actually excited by the latest numbers because "if you go back six months it was a twenty point gap. So we are moving in the right direction." Onorato says his message "is getting through."

Onorato is the County Executive for Allegheny County. If elected he plans to turn the state around economically with some of the same ideas he has already implemented. "The philosophies can be good for the Commonwealth." Onorato explained streamlining and efficiency are key.

Onorato pledges not to raise property taxes.

Onorato is also focused on bringing more jobs to Pennsylvania. He has been instrumental in bringing thousands of jobs to the Western part of the state. He hopes to bring more jobs to the entire state.

The Democrat also weighed in on Corbett's effort to use subpoenas to determine who has been criticizing him on the internet. Onorato said if you are running for public office you need to be thick skinned. "You can't go after somebody who is Twittering or blogging because you don't like what they're saying."

Onorato said he is not opposed to the Tea Party Movement saying getting people involved in politics is a good thing. "The more conversation we have is healthy."
