Local Program For Long-Term Unemployed

14 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed. Many more have been out of work so long, they are not even counted in those numbers.

At midnight tonight, the “long-term unemployed” (which is approximately 2 million people) will see their benefits dry up by Christmas.

Congress has the power to extend those benefits, but they have not taken any action.

Here in Philadelphia, approximately 17,000 people will see these benefits disappear.

Fox 29’s Sean Tobin spoke to John Dodds, Director of the Philadelphia Unemployment Project.
