PATCO's Dormant Car Rehab Program

Updated: Tuesday, 05 Oct 2010, 5:43 PM EDT

Here is a little history on the PATCO trains that millions of people take in & out of the city and across South Jersey:

- Approximately 40,000 riders take PATCO every day
- These PATCO railcars are the oldest in the country
- Each car has over 1.5 million miles logged
- Some cars in the 120 train fleet are over 40 years old

The DRPA and PATCO were given $53 million in Federal grant money to rebuild or replace at lease some of the cars, but that has not happened. That grant money dates back to 2005, yet not one car has been replaced or rebuilt.

Fox 29's Dave Schratwieser is investigating why PATCO has not yet begun the car rehab program and how these old cars keep running.
