Robots . . . In Space

The Space Shuttle Discovery is set for it’s final launch into space on Thursday afternoon at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

The flight has been delayed for a few days due to some leaky seals, but last minute repairs are almost complete.

Discovery’s 11-day mission includes hauling critical spare parts to the International Space Station. Also on board: “Robonaut Two” – That’s right – a robot!

The Franklin Institute’s Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts stopped by Fox 29 to talk about what “R-2” can do and NASA’s future hopes for robots in space.
