Philadelphia police are checking out leads in the deaths of two women, both killed within the last two weeks. Both women were strangled.
The latest strangulation took place this past weekend. The body of 35 year old Nicole Piacentini of Port Richmond was found partially clothed in the 1900 block of East Cumberland at the rear of an abandoned building around 4pm.
Two weeks ago, police discovered the body of 21 year old nursing student Elaine Goldberg in a trash strewn lot in the 2800 block of Ruth Street. She was also partially clothed and strangled.
Homicide detectives and SVU are comparing the two murders and say there are some similarities, but do not yet know if these murders related. They are also looking at other unsolved murders and sexual assaults in that area and across the city.
