Webcam Investigation Findings Released

Ten weeks after the controversy erupted, Lower Merion School District has released the findings of an investigation into the webcam spying case.

Attorney Mark Haltzman represents Blake Robbins, the student at the center of the case.

Haltzman pointed out to Jennaphr Frederick the "independent" investigation was conducted by a law firm hired by the school district. "I am sure they directed them in the process of the report."

Haltzman says he believes the report "actually said more than people expected. I think they went into a lot of detail. I'm disappointed that most of the focus was at the lower level." Haltzman believe people "higher up in the chain" had to know what was going on. "Direction comes from the top. And there should have been more people making direction from the top. And there should have been more direction as to why direction wasn't being made."

Haltzman questions why the school never called Robbins parents and told them to send the laptop back to school. "Why did they grab all these pictures and then look at them." Haltzman said the pictures should have sent a red flag to supervisors. He points out even after the pictures were reviewed, policies and procedures were still never put into place.
