(NewsCore) - Demi Moore was receiving medical treatment Tuesday after paramedics rushed to her home on Monday night, with sources telling TMZ the actress was suffering from substance abuse.
Paramedics responded to a 911 call placed at 10:45pm local time Monday and after assessing Moore's condition, transported her from her home in Los Angeles to a local hospital.
The actress started "shaking" and otherwise "acting like she was suffering from a seizure," according to a female friend who was at Moore's home at the time, E! Online reported.
Moore has reportedly been moved to a facility to seek treatment for substance abuse, sources told the entertainment website.
"Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health," a rep for the actress said.
"She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends," her rep added.
Moore's publicist later told TMZ that the actress had dropped out of "Lovelace," the upcoming biopic about the late "Deep Throat" star Linda Lovelace. Moore was to have played feminist activist-author Gloria Steinem.
Amanda Seyfried will play Lovelace, whose role in 1972's "Deep Throat" helped to bring porn into the American mainstream.
Eric Roberts, Sharon Stone, Chris Noth and Hank Azaria are also signed on to appear in the film, while James Franco will play Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in a small role.
In November, Moore, 49, announced she was ending her marriage to Ashton Kutcher after six years -- amid reports Kutcher, 33, had engaged in multiple extramarital affairs.
It was the third marriage for Moore, who has three daughters -- Rumer, 23, Scout, 20, and Tallulah, 17 -- from her marriage to "Die Hard" star Bruce Willis, 56. They were married from 1987 to 2000.
She was previously married to rock musician Freddy Moore, 61, from 1980 to 1985.
Moore is known for her roles in "Ghost," "A Few Good Men," "Indecent Proposal," and "G.I. Jane."
Once a prolific tweeter, Moore's Twitter account, with its now-ironic handle @mrskutcher, has not posted any messages since Jan. 7.
