HOUSTON - If you were looking to buy a $7,000 purse in Houston in the next couple days you might be out of luck.

Thieves struck the high-end retailer Hermès at its Houston location early Wednesday morning. The store is located in the 1800 block of Post Oak Blvd, home to some of Houston’s finest shopping.

According to CultureMap.com , the luxury retailer remained closed Thursday -- the front of the store boarded up after more than a dozen suspects made off with “an unknown number of purses, priced around $7,000 each, and an unknown number of watches, priced $50,000 or less, along with other stolen items.”

At least 14 suspects were involved in the heist.

A source close to the store tells CultureMap the most valuable items were locked up in a safe, but

Hermès is known around the world for its high-priced, handcrafted handbags, scarves, clothing, perfumes, and more.

The store’s voicemail indicates the location will remain closed “for emergency repairs” but will reopen “as soon as possible.”

In the meantime, the Houston Police Department continues to investigate the crime, which apparently was caught on security video. No suspect descriptions have been released.
