(NewsCore) - Former presidential candidate Herman Cain will not be replacing the campaign trail with the dance floor.
A spokeswoman for Cain told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Tuesday that he turned down an offer by ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" to appear on this season's competition.
"He can't dance in an eight-count. He can only dance in a nine-count," Lisa Reichert, Cain's executive assistant, told the paper in a reference to his famous "9-9-9" tax plan.
Herman Cain would not have been the first political figure to take a turn on the ballroom floor. Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) competed in 2009 and former Cincinnati mayor turned talk show host Jerry Springer was on the hit show in 2006. Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, finished in third place in 2010.
"Dancing with the Stars" is expected to announce its next round of celebrity dancers on Feb. 28.
