(NewsCore) - A bill legalizing gay marriage passed Washington State's House of Representatives Wednesday and will soon be signed into law, The Seattle Times reported.

The legislation passed the House by a 55-43 vote following the Senate's passage last week.

Gov. Christine Gregoire, a Democrat, has said she will sign it into law when the bill reaches her desk. It remained unclear when she would sign the bill, but she has five days to do so, the Times reported.

Six states -- Massachusetts, Iowa, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and New York -- and Washington, D.C. currently allow same sex marriage.
