NEW YORK (AP) - Chemicals maker DuPont says its first-quarter results could be hurt by extended cold weather and winter storms in North America and turmoil in Ukraine. DuPont also says uncertain farming conditions may affect its results. The company did not quantify the effect of those factors.
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Former president Bill Clinton says "creative cooperation" is needed among private and public groups to help the continent of Africa confront challenges. At a conference on Africa sponsored by U.S. Sen. Chris Coons, Clinton said issues such as food insecurity, disease and resource management must be confronted to improve the lives of Africans.
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Gov. Jack Markell says supporters of the new Common Core academic standards must do a better job countering misinformation about the education initiative. Markell and former Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas visited a Wilmington school yesterday to promote the standards.
DOVER, Del. (AP) - A commission on keeping Delaware's gambling industry competitive is still working on recommendations to submit to lawmakers. The commission meets to in Dover. Their report has been delayed by an inability to reach a consensus on some proposals and the desire by some members to obtain more information.
