REQUIREMENTS:

•No less than 16 hours per week at the station. (Some departments require evening and/or weekend assignments, as noted.)

•A statement from the educational institution verifying credit will be awarded upon successful completion of the program.

•The Spring 2013 session will be from Tuesday, January 8th – Friday, April 12th.

•Students applying must be of Junior, Senior or Graduate standing in college.

EXPECTATIONS:

•Professionalism in communication, personal presentation, punctuality and attendance.

•Demonstration of initiative, willingness to develop new and useful skills, and enthusiasm in the performance of all tasks.

•Knowledge of WTXF-FOX 29 Philadelphia's programming, including, but not limited to: The FOX Network, The Ten O'Clock News, and Good Day.

INTERVIEWS

•You will be contacted by phone or email after your application, resume and cover letter has been received and reviewed.

•Interviews will be conducted on Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM at FOX29

DATES

The following are the dates of our internship sessions:

•Spring 2013: Tuesday, January 8th – Friday, April 12th

•Summer 2013: Tuesday, May 14th – Friday, August 16th

•Fall 2013: Tuesday, September 3rd – Friday, December 13th

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

Minimum Qualifications: Graduate, Junior or Senior status in an accredited college or university, majoring in related fields of study, the ability to contribute a minimum of 16 hours per week, and reliable transportation to our facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All internships are non-paid, and may be taken only for college credit (academic credit for the internship is required). Arrangements to obtain credit must be made with your Advisor or Internship Coordinator prior to beginning your internship at WTXF. Your Advisor or Internship Coordinator will be required to certify your eligibility for academic credit. Please refer to an Internship Application.

DEPARTMENTAL INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES

We offer intern opportunities in the following areas:

•Sales

•Creative Services

•Sports

•Information Technology

COMMUNITY AFFAIRS

•Preparation, including copywriting of Community Update

•Maintenance of community leader files

•Topic research for special projects

•Assist in community leader/group contact

•Assist in public service production sessions

•General administrative

Hours needed: Mon. - Fri. 9am to 5:30pm; Monday mornings a MUST!

HUMAN RESOURCES

•Assist with Affirmative Action Reports

•Assist in screening resumes

•Assist with internship recruitment

Hours needed: Mon. - Fri. 9am to 6pm

SALES

•Ratings & demographic research

•Assist with sales promotion activities

•Assist salespersons in various aspects of account activity

Hours needed: Mon. - Fri. 9am to 5pm

CREATIVE SERVICES

•Observation/orientation to promotion production

•Non-linear and regular video editing of the promos

•General administrative

Hours needed: Mon. - Fri. 9am to 6pm

SPORTS

•Logging sporting events for highlight selection for air

•Coordinating scripts with producers and talent

•Updating file system of professional, college, and high school sporting events

•Assist photographers on remote assignments

Hours needed: Mon. - Fri. 6:30pm to 11pm; Sat. and Sun. 1pm to 11pm

NEWS

•Story research

•Pre-show interviewing

•Maintenance of video tape library

•Assist producer, director and anchors in telecast

Hours: Sun and Sat. 8am-11pm, M-F 4am-11pm.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

•Assist IT Manager in daily technology operations

•Provide 1st level Help Desk assistance

•Email Troubleshooting

•Fine Tuning and maintenance of the network

•System monitoring and automation

•PC Maintenance, inventory, support, and troubleshooting

•Provide detailed issue and resolution information in tracking application

•Assist with other projects on an as-needed basis

Hours needed: Mon. - Fri. 9am to 5pm
