'Cinnamon Challenge' Led To School's Boots Ban

A popular Internet stunt has forced one local school district to make some changes.

The Cinnamon Challenge is simple, though you may also say the idea is stupid and dangerous.

The challenge is to take a tablespoon of cinnamon, put it in your mouth, and try to eat it without spitting it out.

In Pottstown, school officials are putting their foot down on the cinnamon challenge.

Hundreds of you tube videos show this challenge has been undertaken by people of all ages.

At Pottstown middle school, they've decided to shut it down before things get out of hand, banning open top boots that they believe make it easier to sneak the spice and other contraband items into school

The boot ban is all the buzz on campus. Open top boots like the popular Uggs may be worn to school, but not in school.

This is what the school is reacting to: one student was caught sneaking cinnamon into the middle school inside a boot. And as many as three others are believed to have tried the challenge on school property.

The challenge has been a big hit on the Internet for years. As with so many things kids try, grown-ups are mostly still in the dark.

And so, while many parents question the sanity of a boot ban, they seem to support any effort to eliminate distractions from their kids' education.
