Fox 29 Investigates waited nearly a month to review the credit card receipts for the 3 top executives at the embattled DRPA.
Mid-morning, Jeff Cole crossed the Ben Franklin, handed over the $137 check and started digging through 5 years of receipts.
The receipts and American Express statements show lunches and dinners at well known restaurants and small, out-of-the-way places.
They reveal executives being covered for conferences and meetings, but a few select expenses caught Jeff’s eye.
For example, the head of the DRPA, John Matheussen, spent $55.00 on a course to make him mentally tough. The class? ’How to handle pressure well and stay calm in a clutch.’
The documents also show the DRPA paid $230 for Attorney Matheussen’s dues to the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
CFO John Hanson also had his $305 NJ CPA Membership paid and $90 to have his Jersey CPA license renewed. Hanson also used your toll money to attend a business course at Villanova University. That price tag: over $3,400!
On Wednesday, Matheussen defended his agency’s use of the credit card, but moved to do away with them. He feels that the credit cards have no been abused but he thinks, going forward, they should use their own credit cards.
In a statement, the DRPA wrote that the mental toughness course was continuing legal training foe CEO Matheussen. It also told us that the authority does pay for professional license renewals for it’s employees.
