Dr. Mike: New Drug For Varicose Veins

A lot of women are bothered by unsightly and uncomfortable varicose veins.

A new drug has been approved to treat people with so-called spider veins.

Dr. Mike explained the FDA has approved Escalera. Doctors inject the medication into spider veins which damages the lining and makes them disappear. Varicose veins are genetic and are also caused by pregnancy and standing on your feet a lot. Dr. Mike isn't opposed to the treatment, but questions why it's really needed.

Dr. Mike also discussed a new study about menthol cigarettes. Some research indicates menthol cigarettes may be more addictive than regular cigarettes. The government is planning to conduct its own study.

And there's a new study that found only one in 40 people are capable of driving safely while talking on the phone. Be a part of the Fox 29 campaign to stop texting while driving. Sign up now on this website.
