The TCF branch located in the Jewel Food store in Hoffman Estates was first robbed on Oct. 19. But just two weeks later, the same bank employee was working when they noticed a man who looked very similar to the robber walking past the bank several times. It was suspicious enough to the teller that they called 911.
Hoffman Estates police responded very quickly, but by the time officers got there, the man in the hooded sweatshirt had disappeared. However, based on the photographs, we believe it was the same individual, and the decision by the teller to call the police probably prevented another robbery.
During the first incident, the only actual crime, the bank security cameras did capture some pictures of the suspect, but he was in disguise.
The man was wearing sunglasses and what we believe was a fake nose and goatee. He was also wearing gloves when he approached the teller counter and announced a robbery. He then pulled back his sweatshirt to display a handgun tucked into the waistband of his pants.
Here is what the FBI says this bandit looks like:
He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police.
