Even though police say DNA evidence connects him to all three attacks, this young man's family doesn't believe he committed the crimes. They say it just doesn't fit for the hard working, soon-to-be father.
The accused serial rapist lived in his parents' home in south Phoenix.
18-year-old Dejuan Donaldson stayed in a room with his fiance who's pregnant.
His mother showed us around after police finished searching the place for evidence. She's confident her son is innocent.
"They think they have the person, but they don't."
Charise Donaldson-Hatchett says detectives took at least one knife from their kitchen.
Police say the attacker raped all three girls at knifepoint. Investigators say DNA evidence links Donaldson to all of those sexual assaults, but his parents think this is a rush to judgment.
"I feel as though he's being framed. They're going to link him to this 'cause they need somebody," said Barry Hatchett, Dajuan's stepfather.
"I know he's being set up..I would like another DNA test taken, court ordered, but not by them..by an outside source who's neutral," said Charise.
Interestingly enough, we actually talked to Donaldson's mother on camera - the day of the latest attack back in April.
Again, they live across the street from where it happened and she told us she was worried about her own children.
"It makes you kind of cautious of who you're surrounding yourself with..it makes you not want to leave the house at all," she said.
Police say Donaldson used to live in an area close to the first two attacks in south Phoenix. He was one of hundreds of neighbors questioned by investigators, but at the time, he didn't raise any red flags.
Then late last month, there was a third attack in a different part of south Phoenix. A 17-year-old girl was raped inside an abandoned house and police realized out Donaldson and his family had recently moved in right across the street.
Last week, police collected a DNA sample from Donaldson. Now they say the link was confirmed and Donaldson was arrested.
