Updated: May 24 2012, 6:19 PM EDT

A decades-old murder mystery may finally be solved.

Six-year-old Etan Patz disappeared in New York City back in 1979.

Now, police have a man in custody who was living right here in our area.

Pedro Hernandez was arrested in Camden on Wednesday. He had been living in Maple Shade, N.J.

New York City police say Hernandez confessed to killing Etan.

Police say Hernandez told them he was working at a corner store in New York in 1979 when he lured Etan with the promise of a soda.

According to police, Hernandez led Etan to the basement, where he chocked him then put his body in a plastic bag and placed it in the trash.

In this video report, FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser had more from Maple Shade on Hernandez's arrest.
