According to the suspect's sister, police had all the information they needed more than 20 years ago.
FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser spoke with Norma Hernandez about her brother, 51-year-old Pedro Hernandez, who has been charged with the 1979 murder.
Norma Hernandez says her brother confessed to the killing at a church prayer group back in the 1980s.
As soon as she heard, she went to police. But she says they never followed up.
"When I heard the comment about my brother had confessed in the church about he did something to a little boy, that he strangled and put him in the trash, as soon as I heard that I went to the Camden police," she said. "… Nobody never contacted me all those years. I waited, and nobody ever contacted me. That's all I did."
Norma Hernandez says her brother never told her directly that he killed the boy, but she believes he should face justice.
