PHILADELPHIA -
The Philadelphia firefighters union is demanding answers after two of their own died when a wall collapsed next door to a major warehouse fire in Kensington.
They want to know just who ordered those men into a building that ended up collapsing.
The union is calling for both Mayor Michael Nutter and Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers to step down.
Union leaders say if there was a collapse zone, then someone broke protocol by sending the men inside.
The union says proper measures weren't taken, but the mayor disagrees.
"John Devlin, we have no reason to believe it was not John Devlin that sent those men into the collapse zone," said union spokesman Frank Keel.
Devlin is one of three high-ranking fire department officials the union is blaming directly for the deaths of Lt. Robert Neary and Firefighter Daniel Sweeney.
The union says pictures of firefighters near the building prove there were no safety perimeters around the fire.
Nutter disagreed, saying, "Until we established the collapse zones we had the appropriate fire safety personnel on the ground."
