Check out this video. It shows you just how far some crooks will go.

Police are looking for this guy. He was caught on tape stealing an air conditioning unit from a home on the 2400 block of Amber Street in Kensington back on April 4.

Even though the unit sparked as he disconnected it, he ran off with it anyway.

The thief was described by police as being as white, between 25 and 30 years old 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds with black hair. He was last seen wearing a gray jacket and black pants.

Police in that part of the city say they've seen a string of A/C unit thefts lately. Crooks have been targeting homes and businesses just as the weather gets hotter.

The thieves sell the copper inside the units for up to $150.

But this isn't the only type of theft police see rise with the temperatures. Just last summer FOX 29 Investigates found cell phone video of a man stealing electricity. He used tools to get into a PECO meter that had been turned off at a home in Gray's Ferry.

Damage from the thefts can cost thousands of dollars to fix, and officials warn the crimes can be deadly for the crooks who commit them.
