PHILADELPHIA -

A Philadelphia woman says she's complained to the city for years about an abandoned house next door to her on North Fourth Street. Now, part of that house has collapsed.

FOX 29's Chris O'Connell was live Sunday night in North Philadelphia working to get results on this problem.

Abandoned homes are a dime a dozen in this city.  The estimated 40,000 abandoned properties are not only eyesores but, in this case, dangerous.

Olga Peagan was outside on her porch getting ready to mow her lawn when the wall to her neighbor's property collapsed, missing her by inches.

The problem is no one has been living this home for years.

The pile of bricks came down Saturday. But it was no surprise because Peagan has been calling the city complaining about this property for six or seven years.

She says it wasn't until the collapse Saturday that the fire department came out, along with the Department of Licenses and Inspections, which came and put a warning sign on the door.

Peagan, who would normally be out on the porch with her 4-month-old grandson, says she's lucky no one was killed.

Although the city's website still lists the Housing Authority as it's owner, a PHA spokesperson tells us the house was owned by PHA for years before being sold at auction in April.

In the meantime, homeowner continues to wait for help, O'Connell reported.
