PHILADELPHIA -

The local girl who captured the hearts of the Delaware Valley in the national spelling bee is now back home.

Lena Greenberg, a 14-year old home-schooled student from Chestnut Hill, made it all the way to the finals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

She finished in fourth place after spelling a bunch of words most people can't even pronounce.

And she says there's a lot that went on that you probably didn't see on television. She said they all want to win, but it's also very hard for them to see when their friends get out. She said there are others who they're rooting for, and it's a very nice atmosphere overall.

"I know I looked upset, but I managed to, you know, move on and stuff, and I was really rooting for the girl who ended up winning," Greenberg said.

Greenberg is not eligible to compete next year.

She said was disappointed with herself for misspelling "Geistlich," a word she studied and one she knows. Nerves and fatigue got the best of her. But she was excited to have spelled several words that she didn't know.
