Faulty Traffic Light At Scene Of Boy's Hit-And-Run

PHILADELPHIA -

FOX 29 is getting results for people who live in near a dangerous intersection. A 7-year-old boy was hit by a car over the weekend and his mother says a broken traffic light is to blame.

That light is at Bridge and Ditman streets in Philadelphia's Frankford section.

Nicole Johnson believes the light is the reason a car hit her nephew, Rakim.

She shot video showing the red light turning green, then jumping to yellow and staying there.

"My nephew thought it was his turn to cross the street, which it was his turn to cross the street," Johnson said. "It was on green. It went from green to red in a few seconds, and he got hit."

FOX 29 called the city's Streets Department, and within a few hours a crew was out fixing the lights.

Police are still searching for the driver whose vehicle struck Rakim.

FOX 29's Dave Kinchen went to check it out and has more on what he found in this video report.
