ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police seize K2 from a Roseville store just days after a ban went into effect in Macomb County, but that's not why two people were arrested.

"Our officers went out and canvassed several businesses that we have known to sell this product in the past," Roseville Police Chief James Berlin told us.

He says most of the gas stations and stores had taken it off their shelves, but the Smokers Alley was a bit of an exception.

"The store was filled with K2, Spice, and our officers felt that the individual was still, in fact, selling the product to anybody who came into the store," Berlin explained.  "In the course of seizing the K2, a quantity of marijuana and a firearm was also discovered."

Police say they even found bath salts for sale, the substance that may have fueled recent cannibal attacks.

The store's owner and his brother are expected to face criminal charges for the marijuana and the weapon.  The K2?  Not so sure.

"We're still needing clarification how to proceed forward from the prosecutor's office and what prosecution will take place and how it will take place," Berlin said.

One thing is clear.  Substances like K2, Spice and bath salts are becoming public enemy number one.

"Get it off the shelves.  Get rid of it.  Find another way to make money," Berlin remarked.
