Posted: Updated:

There has been a big shake-up in the Philadelphia Eagles organization with the team now confirming that Joe Banner  is out as the team's president.

Philly.com first reported the move overnight. A news conference will be held later on Thursday to make the move official.

The Eagles say Banner will stay on with the team as a strategic advisor to owner Jeffrey Lurie while he looks for other opportunities.

Chief Operating Officer Don Smolenski will replace Banner as president and run the day-to-day operations.

General Manager Howie Roseman will assume all of Banner's responsibilities in managing the team's salary cap and contract negotiations.

The team's news conference is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
