Man In Violent Arrest Video Charged With Assaulting Police

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

There's an update on that violent arrest we first showed you Tuesday night.

The suspect, 18-year-old Marcus Warryton is now charged with assaulting police officers.

That's the reason why Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey says the cops in the video may have acted appropriately.

"Clearly when you look at the video there was resisting in the early stages, and the officers were in quite a struggle," Ramsey said. "Someone can grab the ASP which did happen. In fact, one of the officers did lose the ASP."

The ASP that Ramsey was talking about refers to a police baton.

The officers are currently off the streets on desk duty until Internal Affairs determines if they acted appropriately.

The suspect is in jail on $75,000 bail.
