A Philadelphia police officer is recovering after being attacked by a dog in the line of duty.
It happened Sunday in the 2400 block of North 56th Street in Wynnefield.
Police say they pulled over a car and the passenger started arguing with the cops. Investigators say he ran into a house and police chased after him.
That's when someone showed up with a Rottweiler and turned it loose on the officer.
"The officer was bitten on the wrist by the dog," police Capt. Michael Weaver said, adding that they were "minor lacerations" and that the officer "still has motor function to his hand."
Police shot and killed the dog. The officer was treated and released from the hospital.
Police took several people from inside the house into custody.
