Jerry Sandusky Trial Getting Under Way

Posted: Updated:
BELLEFONTE, Pa. -

All eyes are on a central Pennsylvania courtroom as opening statements begin today in the trial of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Sandusky faces 52 counts of sexually assaulting 10 boys over a 15-year period.

If convicted, Sandusky could spend the rest of his life in prison.

The jury is made up with a number of five men and seven women, many of whom have ties to Penn State University. Four alternate jurors were also selected.

The judge has ruled that victims will have to state their full names on the witness stand. However, various protections are being used to try and keep their identities out of the public.

We will have complete team coverage of the Sandusky trial. FOX 29's Bruce Gordon had live reports from Bellefonte starting at 6 a.m. He'll be joined by FOX 29's Chris O'Connell, who will give us live reports at 5, 6, and 10 p.m.
