Tacony Home Invasion Continues Dangerous Trend

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Philadelphia police are investigating an overnight home invasion that occurred early Tuesday in the city's Tacony section.

It happened just after 3 a.m. on Marsden Street. No one was injured.

We're told a teenage girl left the family's back door unlocked last night and a few hours later, after falling asleep in the basement, she found a lone black male with a gun pointing it at her. She was led upstairs to where her father was asleep on the couch.

Police said the suspect got away with the family's Sony PlayStation, the girl's iPod and some DVDs.

The location is near where four separate home invasions took place in a 24-hour period over the weekend.

The descriptions have varied, making it unlikely all of these incidents were carried out by the same suspects.

Commissioner Charles Ramsey told FOX 29 News on Monday that he's concerned with the recent wave of home invasions in Philadelphia.

Police have now formed a special task force of city and suburban police officers and detectives.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley was on the scene and filed this live report on Tuesday morning.
