Widow Finds Navy Personnel Online To Carry Casket

Posted: Updated:

A Navy sailor from Philadelphia was laid to rest with the help of some of fellow enlisted men and women.

Kenneth Nosik died suddenly from a seizure while stationed in San Diego. But, due to financial hardships, his friends and family here in Philadelphia could not make it out for the funeral, and all his Navy friends were deployed.

So, his wife placed an ad on Craigslist looking for sailors to carry her husband's casket. It didn't take long before she got a response.

"I didn't have nobody to call that was in military that could help me," Yvonne Nosik said.

Of those who stepped up to help in her time of need, Yvonne Nosik said, "They showed me that my husband is not forgotten and that they leave no man behind."

Kenneth Nosik's organs were donated. His kidneys went to a 17-year-old girl who had a rare blood type and had been on the transplant waiting list for four years.
