SPCA Removes Two Starving, Skinny Horses From Street In North Philly

Posted: Updated:

Two horses were found Wednesday morning tied up to a fence on 7th and Diamond Streets in North Philadelphia.

The horses appeared to be skinny and malnourished.  There was no shelter or barn nearby.  There was no food or water left for the animals.

Cameras captured the horses as they were being fed some apples and carrots by members of the SPCA and the city's Animal Control & Care Team.

SPCA is aiding the city in the rescue as the city does not have the means to move the animals.  They will be checked out be a veterinarian and nursed back to health.

The City of Philadelphia does allow horses but they must be properly sheltered and cared for.

The city and SPCA are investigating.

Fox 29 will continue to bring you the latest on this developing story on the Fox 29 News at 5 & 6.
