Police in Mercer County, N.J., say they are searching for a boy who they believe has been taken by his grandfather.
David Lundy, 5, is missing from West Windsor Township, police said.
A spokesperson for the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said Saturday investigators continue to follow leads, and they are searching additional areas of interest, but have so far been unsuccessful in finding the boy or his grandfather.
David is described as a light-skinned African-American boy, approximately 3 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 55 pounds, with short, sandy hair. David was last seen wearing a white and green shirt and blue cargo shorts.
Authorities believe he may have been abducted by his grandfather, 49-year-old Morris "Tommy" Lundy.
He's believed by police to have abducted David around 6:30 p.m. from in front the 400 block of Meadow Road in West Windsor.
Lundy is described as an African-American male, 5 feet 10 inches, 180 pounds, with long black hair and hazel eyes. It's believed he may be heading to New York state, where he lives.
The case was initially reported to be an Amber Alert, but police now say they do not believe the child is in immediate harm. A silver Volvo that was said to be part of the case is also no longer believed to be involved.
Although West Windsor Township Police had initially called the possible abduction an Amber Alert, the spokesperson for the prosecutor's office said the incident had not risen to that status as it doesn't meet all of the criteria necessary.
Anyone with information concerning this matter should contact West Windsor Police at (609) 799-1222.
