Historic Philly Neighborhood Grapples with Downed Tree

PHILADELPHIA -

Mother Nature's wild Friday night storms brought down several trees in Philadelphia's historic Society Hill neighborhood.

One such tree on the 200 block of Stampers Street is thought to be more than 100 years old.
That one was split into at least three parts and came down right in front of Jerri Bulyk's house.

"This is huge," Bulyk told FOX29. "This is a very major obstacle to the whole street.  The street is off limits right now."

He and several other neighbors do not have enough room to drive their cars through, with the tree blocking their entire path.

We found another tree down at 3rd and Gaskill Streets. In fact it actually collapsed on the street sign and landed on top of a car nearby.

Philadelphia Police came out to tape off areas where the trees had fallen.

Several residents called the city about it but have yet to hear back on when the storm damage may be cleaned up.
